Kristi Hudson RN BSN CCRN has been a Critical Care Nurse since 1990. For the past 10 years she has worked at UCI Medical Center, which is Orange County's only Level 1 Trauma Center. Kristi has extensive experience in caring for the Critical Trauma Patient and has held both Clinical and Supervisory positions in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She is currently the Nurse Manager for the Neuro Intensive Care Unit. Kristi has her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing and has her Certification in Critical Care (CCRN). Kristi finds the Critical Trauma Patient very challenging, and is excited to be presenting information on the latest trends in the care and management of this complex high acuity patient population.
Course Description
This course is designed to give an overall view of the care and management of the Critical Trauma Patient. Focus will be placed on Mechanism of Injury and appropriate nursing assessment. Neurotrauma including: ICP/CPP, Brain Tissue Oxygenation as well as Sub-Arachnoid hemorrhage and vasospasm will also be presented. Additional focus will be placed on Airway Management, including End Tidal CO2 Monitoring and treatment for ARDS. Fluid Resuscitation and the Acid-Base Imbalances that often result will also be discussed. Nursing interventions for the treatment of Sepsis and new trends in Insulin therapy will be presented. Finally this course will discuss end of life issues such as determination of brain death, donor criteria and care of the brain dead patient through the organ donation process.

Cancellations/Refunds
Cancellations made less then 14 days prior to class will require a $25.00 processing fee. After class start date, no refunds or credits will be given. No refunds will be given for "No Shows". In the unlikely event that course cancellation is required by this company, only tuition fees will be reimbursed.
