Susan Finn RN BSN CCRN
Susan Finn has been a Critical Care Nurse since 1992. Her area of expertise is in the Surgical and Neuro Intensive Care Units. She attained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Montana State University in 1988. She has her Certification in Critical Care and is currently working as Clinical Nurse III in the Neuro Science Intensive Care Unit. Her teaching experience includes a 6-month interim position as Nursing Educator in the NSCU and she has been actively involved in the New Graduate Nursing Orientation Process where she is employed. Susan finds the treatment of the complex “Traumatic Brain Injured” patient an exciting and challenging area of Neuroscience. Using “cutting edge” technology and the latest in Neuro trends, Susan will engagingly present these complexities.
TBI Course Description
This course is designed to give an overall view of the management of the Traumatic Brain Injured patient. The focus of this class will be Neuroanatomy, Neurological assessment, TBI (formerly known as closed head injury) Cerebral Hemodynamics and ICP Monitoring. Emphasis will be placed on Nursing care/intervention as well as management of this high acuity patient population.

In-depth Neuroanatomy and Neurological assessment to include Meningies, Ventricles, CSF, Cerebral Arteries, Cerebral Cortex and Cranial Nerves.
9:30 – 9:45 am - Break
9:45 – 11:45 am
Traumatic Brain Injury, common causes, mechanisms and clinical manifestations. Special focus on blunt trauma, hemorrhagic and secondary injuries.
11:45 – 12:45 pm Lunch Provided by DNE
12:45 – 2:00 pm
Cerebral Hemodynamics to include compliance autoregulation and Cerebral Perfusion Pressure.
2:00 – 2:15 pm Break
2:15 – 4:00 pm
ICP Monitoring, waveforms Tissue oxygenation (PbtO2), Focus on management, treatment and how to avoid secondary injury.
4:00 pm Adjourned
Registration
Tuition includes, Continental Breakfast, Lunch, CE Certificate and Program Booklet. Registration is open until class is full. Registration at the door is accepted. Prior registration is the preferred method.
Cancellations/Refunds
Cancellations made less then 14 days prior to class will require a $25.00 processing fee. After class start date, not refunds or credits will be given. No refunds will be given for "No Shows". In the unlikely event that this course is cancelled by this company, only tuition fees will be reimbursed.
